The Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) is working with WinnDevelopment and relocation expert HousingToHome (HTH) on plans for the redevelopment of the Holland Gardens public housing community.

The redevelopment will reconnect 15th Street to the surrounding neighborhood, creating a community destination for shopping and entertainment.

All construction work will occur under prevailing wage law, with opportunities for local hiring, organized skilled labor and participation by minority and women-owned businesses.

The revitalized Holland Gardens represents a critical opportunity to reinvest in an important public housing community and reactivate the neighborhood, while delivering new revenue to both the JCHA and Jersey City.

The Vision

Following a unanimous March 2023 vote by the Jersey City Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, Jersey City Mayor Steven M. Fulop, the Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) and WinnDevelopment began moving forward with plans for the redevelopment of Holland Gardens, an 80-year-old public housing complex.

The Opportunity

Once the 80-year-old Holland Gardens buildings are demolished, all of the existing low-income apartments will be replaced with newly built, modern units for JCHA clients. In addition, new mixed-income apartments and condominiums will be built, including affordable apartments for seniors.

Relocation

This web site is designed to help current residents of Holland Gardens who choose to voluntary relocate before the formal relocation process begins. Voluntary relocation may be attractive to residents who are eager to find new housing options until the new Holland Gardens community is ready for occupancy.
